Drawing Risky Play

This book of drawings by children at The New School illustrates a process of doing, exploring, thinking, and of tackling questions about play and risk. Drawing Risky Play (2023) includes interviews with the children, and with teachers and playworkers of two South London organisations at the forefront of progressive approaches to self-directed learning and play: The New School, a free-to-attend independent democratic school in the north of Croydon borough, and The Triangle, a 66-year-old adventure playground in Vauxhall. The project explores attitudes towards risk-taking in play, and access to play in public space.

Part of a commission with Turf Projects, Croydon. Designed by Design Print Bind and risogaph printed by Calverts. Supported by Arts Council England and Goldsmiths University of London.
